It is with deep appreciation and warm affection that we remember our much-valued colleague, Richard Hutchinson, who sadly passed away on 17th February 2026 after a long illness.

Richard became a dependable and steady presence across a wide range of services, and his contribution to both our teams and our services will not be forgotten. He supported several vital operational areas, including Enhanced Access, Dermatology services, the Out of Hours service, the COVID-19 response, and driver coordination for the SMI home visiting service. He worked largely behind the scenes, yet the smooth running of clinics, safe patient care, and the confidence of staff often rested on the thoughtful planning and careful attention he brought to his role.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, when healthcare services were placed under extraordinary strain, Richard’s commitment became especially clear. He worked tirelessly to help reorganise services at pace, adapting to rapidly changing requirements while supporting colleagues through uncertainty. His calm manner and practical approach provided stability at a time when it was needed most.
Beyond his responsibilities, Richard was known for his sense of humour and dependable presence. He contributed to a positive working environment simply by being himself — approachable, considerate, and quietly supportive. Many colleagues will remember his check-ins, his willingness to step in to help, and the gratitude he provided after a difficult day.
We remain grateful for the years he gave to the organisation and for the example he set through his professionalism and kindness. He will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege to work alongside him.
Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and colleagues at this difficult time. Richard will always be part of the Croydon GP Collaborative, and he will be deeply missed.
